OMG. OMG. OMG.

another guru award from napp’s photoshop world is sitting on my desk. my job sent myself and megan (digital imaging specialist aka retoucher extraordinaire) to the three-day photography/photoshop nerdfest in orlando, fl last week. there are so many things packed into that program, that you can never stop learning. it’s also beneficial to polish up on some of the basics, because some things in your workflow could always use updating. anyway…i was not expecting to win and was quite embarrassed when they called my name. i had to shuffle/jog up to the stage – in front of a huge expo floor of people. i didn’t fall. thank god…because it would have looked nothing like jennifer lawrence’s oscar fall. it would be been more along the lines of tai at that party in the movie ‘clueless’ (http://youtu.be/mJXjyfmIM8w).

this is 70% of my day to day. racks of clothes, styled on our models. racks on racks on racks. front, back, detail – as we like to say. so the other day, i made a little e-commerce art (thanks, breck). there should be an automated way to line up images in a grid via photoshop, but i couldn’t figure it out. so, these were all added to a ~40×20″ file by hand. once i figured out a nice system, it went pretty fast. 4-5 hours. i should have done some sort of color gradient or made one of those ‘magic eye’ hidden images. we should print this and hang it in the studio. it represents a lot of blood, sweat and tears.

this is the remaining 30% of my day to day. those doors you click into, to see a boutique. the more creative part of the day.

back in may, i hooked up with some of the talented rue la la family to “test” with one of our models, carolan. there was no real concept, other than a focus on beauty. lindsay nordberg put together a ton of looks for the day, while rachael berkowitz made carolan’s beauty stand out even more with hair and make-up. erika weatherbee was kind enough to come in and film some behind the scenes footage, as well (where i act like an idiot): http://vimeo.com/24806480

christina elfar of threeSIXnine THE HAIR STUDIO is a genius. i asked her to join me in the studio last month for some beauty shots, along with 5 fabulous models. she transformed these lovely ladies with five unique looks. i can’t say enough good things about her talent. christina, you are a master with hair and make-up.  THANK YOU!

back one sunday at the end of september, we had 8 models come in.  all 8 showed up.  all 8 rocked.  i think i posted a few ‘teaser’ images from this session before, but haven’t posted more since then.  our theme was ‘black’….just a color to tie all of the images together.  i’ll eventually photoshop an ANTM style image of all the girls standing.  it should be dope.    i said dope.  KMD

how gorgeous is ashley?  jesus.  she reminds me of katherine zeta jones.  classic.
